About Jamie

Date of Birth: 15/04/1990

Home town: Melton Mowbray

Motorcycle(s): Yamaha R6 | Suzuki SV650

I am a 35 year old truck driver delivering Hillary’s blinds up and down the country.

I got into racing at the rather late age of 25.

As a family we have been motorbike enthusiasts throughout my life with my Dad racing while I was a kid.

Then my brother starting racing from a young age also.

I didn’t get round to doing my 1st track day until I was 21.

I did my first track day back in 2011 as a birthday present from my parents and from then on I was hooked and caught the bug.. which then led me to racing.

2025 season review

In 2025 I once again teamed up with Castings Technology Motorsport Team and took on the North Gloucester Road Racing Championship(NGRRC) onboard my Suzuki SV650 in the Minitwin Class and a Yamaha R6 supplied by Castings in the National 600 Class.

The aim for the season was to try and better my 3rd place championship finish from 2024 on the Minitwin and to learn the R6 and push for a podium by the end of the season.

MINITWINS

The season got off to a good start at round one and I was competitive finishing 2nd in all three races across the weekend in mixed early season conditions and I felt really good on the bike.

After a great start to the season, I ended up missing round two due to injury after a big crash racing classic bikes.

This unfortunately made round three rather difficult carrying an injury and not being 100% fit.

I still managed two 3rd place finishes.

We then moved onto round four at Anglesey and I felt a lot stronger and more agile on the bike taking two 2nd place finishes this time round and having a good battle with the leader.

Round five and a trip to Brands Hatch, a circuit I have done much racing at so always a struggle it didn’t make life any easier after a big tip off in qualifying at turn one in the wet.

This was unfortunately due to some contamination on the circuit which saw a fair few other riders have similar incidents in the same place.

The crash, however, scuppered the weekend with confidence issues in that section of the circuit but I still managed a respectable 3rd place finish in one of the races.

Round six and a week after the birth of my beautiful twin girls I had permission to go racing.

Still in a good championship position, however, in the fight for the championship we had a massive crash in qualifying and this time the bike wasn’t fixable, and I was declared unfit to ride for the rest of the meeting due to concussion.

After this crash, and with time and the cost of parts required, we ended up parking the bike for the remainder of the season and focused on racing the 600.

That being said, after only competing in half the championship we still met our goal as a team and finished 3rd overall in the Minitwin championship.

NATIONAL 600

The National 600 Class at NGRRC is much more competitive than the Minitwins with a large depth of field from the lads at the front dropping down from the British Supersport Championship and riders like myself stepping up from other championships.

Round one and with no previous testing on the bike she was a handful at Cadwell Park and it took a while to get comfortable with the extra power and suspension setup on the tight twisty circuit.

I came away with a few points but further down the field than I had hoped with two 12th place finishes and learning that setup on this bike makes a big difference to how the weekend pans out.

I did not compete in round two due to injury.

Rounds three and four were much of the same.

I was getting more confident on the bike and getting a good base setup that I was happy with and I was finishing further up the field with four 6th place finishes over the two meetings.

Round five was our best result of the season at Brands after my first time riding the bike in the wet in practice and finding a good pace and feel on the bike.

I was pipped at the line for a podium in the final race and finished 4th.

Round six was a no go due to concussion and round seven saw us have a technical issue on the test day with the rear shock having no rebound causing us a no score at this round.

Moving onto round eight and the final round of the season at Castle Coombe which is a circuit I had only been to once before, I showed good pace overall and with two 7th place finishes over the weekend I signed off the season very happy.

I felt it was a good learning year on the Yamaha after narrowly missing out on a podium and finishing the season 9th overall in the championship.

2024 I went back on the trusty Minitwin and with NGRRC I had a hard time getting back on a bike with not being able to train through the off season due to injuries sustained in the crash.

My race starts where poor all year as I was worried about stalling again.

As the season progressed we got back to where I knew I could be, racing at the front again with some good close racing and some good results.

I finished the championship in a strong 3rd place.

This is also where my Castings Technology opportunity started with the chance to ride the Yamaha R6 my brother, Dan,  would later take to the Manx Grand Prix.

Racing back at Olivers Mount, we had some good results in the 600b races – again top 10s in the dry and a 2nd in the wet on a bike I was still getting to grips with.

2023 was my first opportunity to ride someone else’s bike and was a huge step forward in my racing journey.

We went racing with a new club, also with North Gloucester Road Racing Club (NGRRC), and competed in their Supertwins Championship.

Unfortunately the season didn’t last long.

We got off to a flying start with a 5th place in the dry and then two wins in torrential rain at round 1 Brands hatch.

At round 2 at Castle Coombe we had a terrible time with a crash in qualifying and then an engine letting go in race 1 – putting a end to the weekend.

Round 3 at Donnington Park with a fixed bike and riding well all weekend, it all fell apart in the last race of the weekend.

The bike cut out on the start line, unfortunately getting hit by another rider, breaking my left leg and loosing some muscle in the process.

My season was over and I had to experience a hard few months sat on the side lines.

2022 and after a few years break I went back to where it all started at EMRA and Mallory Park.

I competed in the Minitwin and Pre-injection classes, giving me more track time and more races over a weekend.

This season was full of highs and very few lows – one small crash on the Minitwin and a few mechanicals on the Pre-injection.

I won the Minitwin Championship with a 100 point defecit to 2nd place, and finished 4th in the Pre-injection championship after missing a meeting or two.

I also took my first small step into road racing at Olivers Mount where I secured three wins in the support races on my Minitwin;  a top 10 finish in the 600B race in the dry; and a 3rd place finish in the wet.
2019 for this year we made a switch of machines to my trusty Suzuki sv650 and competed in the minitwins championship at Bemsee.

This is a full dedicated one make series which promotes talent, rather than how much money you can spend on an engine and modifications.

With stock bikes and limited modifications its a level playing field for everyone and a cost effective way into racing.

I had a few good results throughout the season, mainly finishing within the top 10, with a highlight of a 5th place at Oulton Park.

My season was cut short with two rounds remaining due to finances but we still managed to finish a respectable 10th in the Championship.
2016 I competed in my first full championship with NO LIMITS in the pre injection class, running alongside the more modern 600s.

Throughout the year I had some great battles and a lot of wins.

Most noted was a win in my first wet race at Anglesey, finishing 4th overall and lapping most of the field.

Unfortunately a few crashes throughout the year cost me the title,  narrowly missing out by a mere 7points at the end of the season.

2015 and my 1st race meeting was at Mallory park with EMRA.

I took two class wins and an overall race win as a complete novice against some rather more experienced riders.

The season went well and I took a few more race wins throughout the year but a championship challenge was cut short due to a engine failure, missing two rounds that season.
