About Dan

Date of Birth: 27/01/1993

Home town: Melton Mowbray

Motorcycle(s): Yamaha R6 | Aprilia RS660

I am a 32 year old motorcycle design engineer working at Vepro Motorcycles.

I started racing at the age of 10 on mini motos and progressed through the classes over the years competing at all UK circuits.

In 2014 I took to road racing to fulfil my dream of racing at the Isle of Man.

I work on and prepare my own bikes with the help of my sponsors.

Road Race Experience Past 4 Years

Year 2019
I made my debut in Ireland at Armoy, riding my Honda RVF 400cc and the Strangford Holiday Park GSXR 750cc.

I had a best finish of 5th on both bikes.

At the Manx GP I DNF the Ultralightweight race on my Honda RVF 400cc due to running out of fuel whilst in second.

On a classic stock GSXR 750 I finished 23rd in the classic superbike race.

I was given the chance to ride the Strangford Holiday Park GSXR 750cc, where I finished 5th in the senior race with an average speed lap of 120.47mph – becoming the 25th member on the Tommy Clucas Club.

Next was Scarborough Gold Cup where I finished 2nd on my Honda RVF 400cc and 4th on my Suzuki GSXR 750cc.

I finished the year of by winning the 1000cc support race at the Sunflower Cup aboard the Strangford Holiday Park 750.
Year 2020 / 2021
Due to covid racing was far and few between in 2020 with only a couple of races at Scarborough Oliver’s Mount.

In 2021 road racing was still put on hold due to travel restrictions; however, I was lucky to be offered a ride on a Rob North framed 1970’s BSA Rocket 3 to compete at a few short circuit events with the CRMC Club.

We had a successful year and finished all races on the podium and coming 3rd in the championship after competing at four rounds.
Year 2022
As well as competing on the above motorcycles, I had a new sponsor supplying me with the new Aprilia RS 660 to compete in the Supertwin/Junior class.

I got my first Irish road race podium on the new Aprilia at Cookstown where I finished 3rd.

At the Manx Grand Prix I finished 6th in the Junior race on the Aprilia.

I also competed on a Yamaha R6 built by Russell Brook in the senior race where I finished 2nd with another 120mph lap to finish.
Year 2023
Back to a wet Cookstown finishing 1st in the Junior support on the Aprilia and second in the supertwin race.

Following that, I competed in an endurance race at Donnington Park, on the Brook built R6, where we finished 3rd in class.

Back at The Manx GP I finished 7th on the Aprilia in the Junior, after dropping from 4th from losing 50 seconds in the pits due to a dodgy fuel bowser with a best lap of 115.8mph.

In the ultralightweight race I finished 3rd on the Honda RVF 400 with a best lap of 106.2 from a standing start.

Finishing the event, I finished 3rd in the senior race on the R6 with a best lap of 120.2mph on a damp course.
Year 2024
We had a quiet year this year due to unforeseen family reasons, but we grew the Castings Technology fleet with the purchase of a brand new GYTR Yamaha R6 with the aim to win the Senior Manx GP.

We made our debut at the International Northwest 200 road races where we were blessed with a week of sunshine.

We came away with a best finish of 15th on the Aprilia and 25th on the new R6 against a lot of big names and teams in the road race paddock.

The next outing was the main event of the Manx GP.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t with us as the island was hit with a storm for the two week event.

With little track time and dodgy course conditions the organisers did a great job to get all the races in.

In the Junior race aboard the Aprilia 660 we finally managed to get in on the podium and finish in 3rd place.

Next was the senior race on the new Yamaha R6.

We started first on the road in tricky conditions leading the race from start to finish to win the blue ribbon race on the event.

After a lot of years trying it felt like a dream come true and couldn’t thanks Castings Technology enough for the opportunity and support to achieve my dream.
